New goal!

A while back I posted some goals I had while Charles was away for training. I accomplished very little. Procrastination is partly to blame. Laziness is another factor.

My newest goal is to become a better runner. I'm by no means a runner. I have loathed it for most of my life. However, I know it's a great work out and I need something easy. I mostly need to work on my endurance; I'm not really sure how to go about that.

While Charles was visiting, we stopped at the local running store so he could try on some new running shoes. His are about a year old and worn down from use. While we were there I figured I should be fitted. I was mostly curious about what kind of shoes would work best with my foot. I was not really planning on buying any. After trying on several pairs of shoes each, Charles and I both ended up with the same shoe. It's funny how that worked out.

Charles is always quick to give in to something that encourages me to work out more so the shoes were purchased. To justify this purchase, he said I should try to run at least once a week. That is now my goal.

Race Day and other random stuff

This past weekend was spent in Columbus so Charles could run in the Columbus Marathon. He felt like he had to redeem himself from his first marathon. We enjoy Columbus except for Ohio State. Being brought up in a household with a Michigan alum makes you dislike anything Ohio State related. I did watch the end of the Michigan game on TV while in Columbus and got to see them win at the last minute. That was awesome!

Charles did very well at his marathon and has decided not to run anymore marathons. (Yea!) I got up bright and early to find a good spot to see him towards the finish line. At least I thought it was a good spot... I didn't even see him. I was hugely disappointed.

On anther topic...last week Charles looked out of our front window and saw a cute little orange kitten. He was worried that it was lost, so he brought it inside. I was curious how our cats would react to another cat in the house. Calvin did not like it at all! He sat under the couch and hissed at the orange cat anytime it came anywhere near him. Hobbes was a little friendlier, but very cautious near the cat. It was funny to watch them.

Luckily the kitten had a tag for a 24 hour watch service. They finally got in touch with the owner who only lives on the next street over. They were very grateful that we found their cat.

Lastly, I ordered shoes for the wedding (see previous post). They arrived today. I picked the pair I was leaning towards, but I just don't like them as much in person. The shape of the shoe reminds me of an old lady and the color is not as red as in the picture. Looks like I'll be returning those and searching for something different. I'll probably just go with flats since that is going to be way more comfortable.

Shoe search

I am going to be a bridesmaid in December for my good friend Cheryl. I am very excited since I've never been a bridesmaid before. I was very honored that she asked me to be one.

My dress finally came in and I tried it on today. It still needs some alterations, but it's a gorgeous dress. Now comes the hard part of picking shoes. Cheryl has given the bridesmaids free reign on shoes. The dress is long and her view is that we should be comfortable and no one will really see our shoes anyway.

The owner of the dress shop thought brown. I was originally thinking gold, but the gold shoes that I fell in love with would not look quite right with the color of the dress. After looking at brown shoes, I tried to think of another color. I landed on red! It's a Christmas/winter themed wedding and red makes sense. Plus, what girl doesn't want a great pair of red shoes in her collection.

Here are some shoes that I found in my brief search today:

Basic red pumps

Some more red heels

I'm leaning towards these...aren't they beautiful?

Red flats

Red flats with a little detail (sorry for the really blurry image...got it off Google)

New boots!

Brand--Guess
I am very excited about my new boots. I purchased them on Sunday from DSW to replace my old brown boots. They were looking worn and were a little more casual than I wanted for work and such. I had a $10 off rewards coupon and a Double Points coupon for DSW, so I headed over to see what they had to offer. I found the best boots which were exactly what I was looking for!

They are very comfortable. When I bought my old boots, they were flats and very comfortable to wear. So I was a little nervous about buying boots with a heel for work. Some days a heel just doesn't cut it. But I've worn my new boots to work twice this week and my feet haven't done any complaining.

The first day I wore them everyone commented on how cute they were or my outfit was. And my boss kept singing "These boots were made for walking..."

The other day I wore them with a brown dress and an orange striped sweater. It was such a fall outfit and it looked very cute. Of course I didn't get a picture. :)
