Logo work

Recently I have been given opportunities to create logos for businesses. It is something I enjoy doing and since I do not have a business set up for it, I have been doing it for free. The first one I offered to create was for a sorority sister of mine who recently started a job at a church preschool. She knew exactly what she wanted for the logo which made my job SUPER easy! As you can see, instead of a tree trunk there is a cross to show they are rooted in God. I love how the leaves turned out with the different shades of green.

Design: Oktoberfest Bunco

If you've never played Bunco, you should! It's a really easy dice game and gives you a chance to move around and meet new people. For our base spouses' club, we will be having a Bunco social this month. A lot of Bunco groups will choose a different theme each month and dress up or decorate according to that theme. I was spitballing ideas with our social chair and mentioned Oktoberfest as a fun idea (even though technically Oktoberfest usually happens at the end of September). She loved the idea and decided to go with it! I was really excited because I knew the flier would be fun to make.

Design: Scholarship Auction

Our spouses' club on base has a scholarship program for military spouses and dependents seeking higher education. Last year we awarded $7,500 across seven individuals. This year our goal is to raise $10,000! One way we raise money is through our annual Scholarship Auction. The auction chairs are hard at work planning an awesome event and so far they are doing an amazing job! They picked the theme "Winter Wonderland," so we should have a beautiful and classy event.

For the Save the Date and flier, they shared with me an example of one they found which had a lot of snowflakes on a dark blue background. To recreate their look, I individually sized and placed snowflakes. That was a little tedious, but I am really happy with the way it turned out.

Design: Book Club

One of the special activity groups for our base spouses' club is Book Club. Since I am already a part of a book club, I am not taking part in this one. It can be hard juggling two books with deadlines each month. But it was fun picking out the graphics for this one. There were a lot to choose from on Shutterstock.

Design: Gourmet & Wine

What would a group of ladies (mostly) be without a wine group? Our base's spouses' club is no exception. I am not a big wine drinker, so I don't know how many of these I will attend throughout the year, but I'm sure it's a great chance to learn more about what is out there and hang out with some awesome folks.

Design: Active Crew

One of the other Special Activity groups within our base's spouses' club is called the Active Crew. Throughout the year they will be doing various activities such as yoga, hiking, and more. They are starting off the year with yoga.

I really like the background image I found on Shutterstock for this group. It showcases many things that are great about a group of active people--tennis, weight lifting, soccer, baseball, and healthy eating! Plus the colors are great!

Design: Football Bunco

As if I did not volunteer for enough things already, I signed up to the be the POC for the Bunco group for our base's spouses' club. Bunco is such a fun and easy game to play. Our last base had a Bunco group, too, and we would always pick a different theme for each month's game night. When I was planning the Bunco night for this month I kept going back and forth between various theme ideas. There are just so many darn good ones! In the end, I decided on Football Bunco. If you remember from around this time last year, I have already created a football Bunco flier. Yes, I could have been super lazy and used the same one. But of course I did not want to do that!

As prep for this year's Special Activity Groups (Bunco, Book Club, Gourmet & Wine, etc), I had created generic fliers/color schemes for each group. I found a fun and bright color combination for the bunco group. Since I love it so much I decided to keep the colors even though they don't really go with a football theme. How fun are the little football graphics? I found a collection on Shutterstock.
